Safe and Stable Co: Community-Controlled Reproductive Justice Enterprise

Safe and Stable Co is a revolutionary social enterprise founded by doula, educator, and creative Aleigha Johnson, operating on three core pillars to advance reproductive justice through community-controlled healthcare and cooperative economics.

Three Pillars of Service

Doula Services provide full spectrum reproductive healthcare including prenatal, birth, postpartum, abortion, and fertility support. All service fees are reinvested to expand sliding scale accessibility and complete insurance enrollment, ensuring reproductive healthcare access regardless of financial situation.

Educational Programming offers free digital content alongside revenue-generating physical materials through a print-on-demand shop. The flagship Safe and Stable Stewards provides comprehensive, trauma-informed sex education that centers consent, body autonomy, and critical thinking skills for young people ages 9-17.

Creative Content includes TikTok, podcast, and newsletter platforms that make reproductive justice concepts accessible while building community engagement. The monthly newsletter serves as both educational resource and advertising platform for mission-aligned businesses.

Current Operations & Immediate Goals

All revenue streams support immediate operational needs: finalizing insurance provider status, maintaining sliding scale services for uninsured clients, and securing transportation for client visits and restoring our mutual aid programming. The Mamas Mutual Aid Program addresses resource inequality by coordinating distribution of outgrown children's items and connecting families with essential household goods, promoting both economic and environmental justice.

The current Chuffed campaign funds these operational necessities while building toward long-term vision implementation. Newsletter advertising partnerships provide sustainable revenue while connecting values-aligned businesses with engaged community members who prioritize reproductive justice.

Long-Term Vision: Cooperative Development

Safe and Stable Co explicitly aims to break away from traditional models used for charitable organizations. The Nesting Initiative workforce development program will create flexible employment opportunities specifically designed for parents and caregivers, addressing the economic barriers that prevent quality family time and financial stability.

This cooperative vision includes both individual and organizational pathways to ownership. Successful contractors in doula work, education, or creative services can earn partial business ownership, creating a pathway from poverty to cooperative wealth-building.

Investment & Engagement Opportunities

Community members can engage at multiple levels: free social media subscriptions and newsletter signup; purchasing services or educational materials; business advertising partnerships; direct donations; or cooperative partnership development.

Every investment creates triple impact: individual access to reproductive healthcare and education; community resource circulation and economic development; and systemic demonstration of community-controlled health care delivery that can be replicated in other regions.

Revolutionary Model

Safe and Stable Co represents a new paradigm where reproductive justice, economic democracy, and community control intersect. By centering people's humanity, autonomy, and wellness while building toward cooperative ownership, the enterprise creates sustainable alternatives to traditional charity models while ensuring that those most impacted by reproductive injustice have decision-making power in the solutions.

This model proves that social change enterprises can simultaneously address immediate community needs while building the economic infrastructure necessary for long-term systemic transformation.

  • Oppression is Our Opp

This zine is centered around taking political theory and turning it into popular education. It is my personal belief(as well as many scholars/revolutionaries/etc) that the only way to liberation is through education. The issue is, not everyone has the time to sit down and learn about all of the theories that are behind the scenes of the world we live in. It can also be really difficult to read political theory. So this reader will have breakdowns of huge concepts, buzzwords, and all sorts of information that describe our political landscape. After each breakdown, we’ll do a little bit of history on how this issue pops up in a historical context. Then we’ll finish it off with a contemporary or otherwise relevant example. Every edition will also include some resources to dive in further just in case the topics interest you and you’d like to do some more digging.
